This guide covers all the ways to log food and track nutrition in Atom Fitness. The new cart-based Food Logger makes it easy to build meals, edit portions, and log multiple items at once.
The Food Logger
The Food Logger uses a shopping cart system — add foods, adjust servings, then log everything with one tap.
Cart Features
- Add multiple items — Build complete meals before logging
- Edit in cart — Tap any item to adjust serving size or nutrition
- Swipe to remove — Swipe left on any item to remove it
- Undo remove — Accidentally deleted? 5-second undo window
- Real-time totals — See calories and macros update as you add foods
Progress Tracking
The header shows your daily progress with a visual border that fills as you approach your calorie goal:
- Calories consumed vs. daily goal
- Expandable macro breakdown (protein, carbs, fat)
- Swipe down on the macro panel to dismiss

Search our comprehensive database powered by FatSecret with over 500,000 foods.
Search Tips
- Be specific — "Chobani Greek Yogurt" works better than just "yogurt"
- Include brands — Brand names help find exact products
- Use common names — "Chicken breast" instead of "poultry"
Barcode Scanner
Premium Feature — Scan product barcodes to instantly log packaged foods.
- Tap Barcode in the Quick Add Menu
- Point your camera at the barcode
- Hold steady — auto-detection is instant

Database Sources
When you scan a barcode, Atom Fitness searches multiple sources:
- Verified foods — Curated products with confirmed nutrition
- FatSecret — Primary database with 500,000+ products
- Open Food Facts — Fallback for products not in FatSecret

Recipe Builder
Create recipes by combining ingredients, then log them with accurate combined nutrition.
Creating a Recipe
- Navigate to Recipes in the Meals tab
- Tap Create Recipe
- Add ingredients via search, barcode, or your library
- Adjust serving sizes for each ingredient
- Set number of servings the recipe makes
- Save and log like any other food
Import from URL
Premium Feature — Import recipes directly from your favorite cooking websites.
- Tap "Import from URL" in the recipe builder
- Paste any recipe URL from popular cooking sites
- The app automatically extracts the recipe name, description, instructions, and timing
- Ingredients are automatically matched to our food database with nutrition data
- Review matched ingredients and select alternatives if needed
- Save the complete recipe with accurate nutrition
Logging Recipes
- Serving multiplier — Adjust how many servings you're eating
- Expandable ingredients — Tap to see what's in the recipe
- Nutrition scales automatically — All macros adjust with serving size

Enter nutrition information manually for foods not in the database.

Food Library & Favorites
The Library tab shows your complete food history with powerful organization features.
Favorites
- Tap the heart icon on any food to mark as favorite
- Favorites appear at the top of your library
- Quick access for foods you eat regularly
Library Actions
- Tap — Preview food details and add to cart
- Long press — Quick add with default serving
- Swipe left — Delete from library
- Heart icon — Toggle favorite status
Preview & Edit
When you tap a library item, you can preview its nutrition and optionally edit before adding:
- View full nutrition breakdown
- Adjust serving size with multiplier
- Edit any nutrition value if needed
- Add to cart when ready
Copy & Paste Meals
Easily duplicate meals between days:
- Copy single meal: Long press → Copy
- Copy whole day: Menu (•••) → Copy All Meals
- Paste: Open Quick Add on target day → Paste option appears
Clipboard contents are preserved for 7 days.
Meal Pattern Predictions
Atom Fitness learns from your eating habits and suggests foods you typically eat at certain times.
